Some of my older followers know that I graduated from my grad school program earlier this year. Well, what a lot of you may not know is that I just got into another master's program at Boston University this fall. I'll be studying Computer Information Systems and am anxious yet thrilled to get started. So, yes, I will be among the thousands of students returning to school this fall. Although I won't be on campus much since my classes are distance classes, I thought I'd put together a back-to-school outfit anyway. As much as I enjoy extremely feminine clothes and style, I also have this "I followed my brother around as a little girl" tomboy in me. I love mixing menswear or tomboyish items with my more fitted items to avoid looking too bulky or stray too much from my usual style. This outfit consists of my J.crew high-rise jeans in a dark wash, a retro striped boyfriend v-neck top from Target, a double-breasted mustard cardigan from TJMaxx, and a pair of Dolce Vita suede menswear-style loafers. I accessorized with a cognac leather belt from Zara and a cognac leather Michael Kors bag. I probably could have added some jewelry, but got kind of lazy. I'm about comfort today!
I'm loving this rainy and cloudy weather we've been getting in South Carolina. I can actually wear a sweater and jeans once in awhile :)
I hope you all are doing well and thank your for reading, my friends!!! Thank you to all those who have started following me recently. I really appreciate it :)

Very cute outfit, love the yellow coat!

DeleteUgh, I'm so jealous of people going back to school. I love that time! New notebooks, new planner, NEW CLOTHES. I'm in the process of applying to school (damn, I should get back to filling out those apps instead of looking at blogs) so hopefully this time next year I'll have a back to school outfit too :)
ReplyDeleteUgh, the infamous application process...good luck and I hope all goes well! It's an exciting time for sure.

I've just found your blog and fell in love with your style and your charming smile! Followed with pleasure.
ReplyDeleteAs soon I saw 'I'm married to one attractive sailor', I immediately thought: 'this gonna be an interesting one' ;)
Mindy, you are gorgeous and I love this preppy/tomboy/classy look! Congrats on getting into that program! I'm right there with you, still in school. Although Computer Information Systems sounds a little...well I'm glad you like it. I took one "Infosystems" class that was not my favorite. More power to ya!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely looking for some high-rise jeans as well, I think the look of them is so flattering! I tried a pair on at J.Crew the other day, but they were SUPER long (like, longer than normal, but all jeans are long for me, because I'm so short) oh well, still on the hunt!
perfectly priya
This is such a cute back to school outfit! I love the mustard yellow color, too - you look great! Greetings from Atlanta. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMindy,
ReplyDeleteHope you are well. I have been thinking about these shoes for a little while. Do you love them? Are they true to size?
If you are ever in DC, let me know. I would love to catch up. Best of luck with school, it's the best,
Best,
Sarah
